Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesC FutureB-
The Buccaneers did enough to get by: C+.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Buccaneers did exactly that with Cooper Mays in the 206th pick.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. However the rest shakes out, Watts at that price is a win they earned.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Nic Scourton
In pick 30 they get a premier pass rusher, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts is a better player than Round 2, Pick 21 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick84 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
They liked Barrett Carter enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 84. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick109 Rnd4 Tai Felton
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tai Felton in the 109th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick121 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
Jacob Parrish in the 121st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick157 Rnd5 Quincy Riley
They let Quincy Riley come to them and pounced at pick No. 157. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick206 Rnd6 Cooper Mays
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cooper Mays in slot 206, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick235 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
A wild overpay on Teddye Buchanan in the 235th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
