Nobody dealt better than the Buccaneers this weekend: B+. The tape said wait; the Buccaneers did not. Patrick Payton went at Round 4, Pick 20, a good 60 picks before the board was ready. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Moss pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Deommodore Lenoir pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick50
Rnd2
CJ Allen
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and CJ Allen at the Round 2 slot is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick54
Rnd2
Carnell Tate
Carnell Tate at Round 2, Pick 22 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick97
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
They barely believed it either: Nicholas Singleton still on the board at pick 97. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick122
Rnd4
Patrick Payton
They reached a country mile for Patrick Payton at the 122nd pick, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick161
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They let Davison Igbinosun come to them and pounced at slot 161. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick200
Rnd6
Miller Moss
The board fumbled Miller Moss all the way to pick No. 200, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick235
Rnd7
Tosh Baker
The board had cheaper options than Tosh Baker at the 235th overall pick, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
