The Buccaneers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Buccaneers spent the 200th pick on Troy Bowles, a name most had 104 spots down the list.
The Barton pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman and running back. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Jermod McCoy
In pick No. 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
CJ Allen
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 22 with a little surplus value in CJ Allen. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick91
Rnd3
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at the 91st pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122
Rnd4
Lander Barton
A want over a need in the 122nd overall pick: Lander Barton adds a linebacker while interior defensive lineman and running back keeps waiting.
Pick161
Rnd5
Tyreak Sapp
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tyreak Sapp well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick166
Rnd5
Bryce Foster
Bryce Foster at slot 166 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200
Rnd6
Troy Bowles
They reached into another round for Troy Bowles, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick235
Rnd7
Tyler Van Dyke
They talked themselves into Tyler Van Dyke at Round 7, Pick 19, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Pick255
Rnd7
Kendrick Law
They took Kendrick Law at par in No. 255, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
