Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Buccaneers for Ewers: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Quinn Ewers at the Round 4 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Blue reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick53 Rnd2 Josh Conerly Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Josh Conerly Jr. in the 53rd pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick84 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter at pick 84 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick85 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. at slot 85 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick121 Rnd4 Quinn Ewers
Quinn Ewers in No. 121 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick157 Rnd5 Jaydon Blue
They reached a country mile for Jaydon Blue at pick No. 157, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick208 Rnd6 Caleb Ransaw
They took Caleb Ransaw at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick235 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
Nothing to complain about; Cam Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
