FutureB-
Larceny in No. 46 lands the Buccaneers a B, Stone and all. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Buccaneers were there to profit. David Stone, the No. 10 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 46.
The Brahmer reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Will Echoles
In pick 17 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick46
Rnd2
David Stone
David Stone in Round 2, Pick 14 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick77
Rnd3
Luke Montgomery
Luke Montgomery at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick116
Rnd4
Greg Johnson
A quiet steal in pick No. 116: Greg Johnson for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick158
Rnd5
Benjamin Brahmer
Benjamin Brahmer in the 158th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick193
Rnd6
Emmanuel Karnley
Emmanuel Karnley slid further than he should have, and the 193rd overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick229
Rnd7
Isaac Brown
They went early on Isaac Brown in No. 229, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick254
Rnd7
Tree Babalade
A reach for Tree Babalade in slot 254; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick257
Rnd7
Jordan Castell
Jordan Castell in Round 7, Pick 41 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
