Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Laurence Seymore at the Round 7 slot, a reach of 146 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Iamaleava at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Joshua Josephs
In the 19th overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside, even if it was a touch early.
Pick53
Rnd2
CJ Allen
A reasonable price with a little left over, CJ Allen in the Round 2 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick84
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
Keith Abney II at slot 84 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick119
Rnd4
Earl Little Jr.
Earl Little Jr. in No. 119 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick161
Rnd5
Kyle Louis
Kyle Louis at Round 5, Pick 21 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick198
Rnd6
Nico Iamaleava
They will replay Nico Iamaleava at the 198th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick233
Rnd7
Laurence Seymore
This one needs a full-page explanation: Laurence Seymore in Round 7, Pick 19, miles early. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
