Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB
The Buccaneers won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Desmond Watson at pick 197 is 39 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Dike steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

A whole weekend of picks and offensive lineman is somehow still a want. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jihaad Campbell
In No. 30 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value.
Pick53 Rnd2 Jack Sawyer
No edge and no loss on Jack Sawyer in Round 2, Pick 21; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick56 Rnd2 Trey Amos
They read the board right and Trey Amos was the payoff at pick No. 56. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick84 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick121 Rnd4 Chimere Dike
Chimere Dike in the 121st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Pick122 Rnd4 Nick Nash
This one needs a full-page explanation: Nick Nash in slot 122, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick132 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
A straight-up fair deal on Mello Dotson at the 132nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick157 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malachi Moore at the Round 5 slot is the proof. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick197 Rnd6 Desmond Watson
Desmond Watson at pick No. 197 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206 Rnd6 Ricky White III
Value said wait; Ricky White III in slot 206 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick235 Rnd7 Cam Jackson
Cam Jackson at the 235th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
