Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedC+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Buccaneers turned the phones into found money: B-.

The Buccaneers went off the board in a big way for Que Robinson, 114 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Winston Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. It is not that Winston Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Buccaneers had louder needs to answer first.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at pick 27 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick54 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
A wild overpay on Maxwell Hairston in the 54th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick59 Rnd2 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at the 59th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
Pick84 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in No. 84 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick121 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Kevin Winston Jr. while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick124 Rnd4 Cody Simon
A curious use of pick No. 124. Interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots needed the pick; a linebacker in Cody Simon did not.
Pick136 Rnd4 Que Robinson
Que Robinson at the Round 4 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick157 Rnd5 Nick Nash
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nick Nash in slot 157. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick159 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at pick 159 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick176 Rnd5 Nohl Williams
They paid sticker price for Nohl Williams in No. 176, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick183 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They did well to land Dont'e Thornton Jr. in Round 6, Pick 7, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick235 Rnd7 LaJohntay Wester
LaJohntay Wester in pick No. 235 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
