Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall C
ValueF NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Buccaneers: C.

The Buccaneers clearly saw something nobody else did in Zion Nelson, taking him 85 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It washes out to a C, no better and no worse.

For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Taaffe where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes. Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Oscar Delp
In pick No. 22 they get a seam-stretching tight end, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 Suntarine Perkins
Suntarine Perkins in No. 54 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick86 Rnd3 Harold Perkins Jr.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Harold Perkins Jr. in Round 3, Pick 22, miles early. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick131 Rnd4 Michael Taaffe
Michael Taaffe at pick 131 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick161 Rnd5 Tyreak Sapp
Tyreak Sapp at slot 161 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick170 Rnd5 Tony Grimes
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tony Grimes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick200 Rnd6 Troy Bowles
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Troy Bowles well ahead of where he belonged. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick235 Rnd7 Zion Nelson
They reached into another round for Zion Nelson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
