Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesC FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B-.

The Buccaneers clearly saw something nobody else did in Elijah Roberts, taking him 24 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Golden at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

Tight end was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden in No. 30 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick53 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
The board had Xavier Watts higher than the 53rd overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick84 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter at pick No. 84 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
A premium they did not need to pay, Jacob Parrish a notch or two before his time. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick121 Rnd4 Kyle McCord
No drama and no debate, Kyle McCord went about where he belonged in pick 121. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick157 Rnd5 Elijah Roberts
A wild overpay on Elijah Roberts in Round 5, Pick 19, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick206 Rnd6 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey at pick No. 206 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick235 Rnd7 Jabbar Muhammad
They paid sticker price for Jabbar Muhammad in No. 235, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
