The Buccaneers cashed the board's mistake on Mendoza: B. The Buccaneers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Fernando Mendoza fell into slot 161. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Deontae Lawson
In pick 26 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot.
Pick54
Rnd2
Caleb Lomu
Caleb Lomu at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick86
Rnd3
Germie Bernard
They did well to land Germie Bernard in slot 86, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tacario Davis
A slide stopped in the 122nd overall pick, with Tacario Davis worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick161
Rnd5
Fernando Mendoza
Fernando Mendoza in the 161st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
