The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Buccaneers reached some 68 spots for Makari Paige, and value like that does not grow back.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones Jr.. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
