Best value of the weekend goes to the Buccaneers for Taaffe: B-. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Michael Taaffe got past him. The Buccaneers do not have to explain a thing at the Round 3 slot. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Bailey pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick52
Rnd2
David Bailey
David Bailey in slot 52 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick54
Rnd2
CJ Allen
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing CJ Allen in the 54th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick86
Rnd3
Michael Taaffe
The board fumbled Michael Taaffe all the way to the 86th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick122
Rnd4
Oscar Delp
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Oscar Delp at pick No. 122 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
