FutureA+
The Buccaneers fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-. Nobody had Tony Grimes this high, and it is not close. The Buccaneers reached 37 spots to get him at the 200th pick. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Koziol at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick50
Rnd2
CJ Allen
CJ Allen at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick54
Rnd2
Isaiah World
A reasonable price with a little left over, Isaiah World in No. 54. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122
Rnd4
Tanner Koziol
A tight end of that caliber at the 122nd pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick200
Rnd6
Tony Grimes
A wild overpay on Tony Grimes in Round 6, Pick 24, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick235
Rnd7
James Williams
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
