The Buccaneers kept it disciplined and banked a B. The Vincent Anthony Jr. pick is the one that will follow the Buccaneers into the fall. They took him 57 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The Allen pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. With interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
In pick 26 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick46
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A tidy bit of business in No. 46, where Sonny Styles graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick60
Rnd2
CJ Allen
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. CJ Allen in slot 60 leaves interior defensive lineman, quarterback and other spots for later.
Pick77
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 13, with Eli Stowers worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick116
Rnd4
Vincent Anthony Jr.
They reached into another round for Vincent Anthony Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick153
Rnd5
Ted Hurst
Fair-plus on Ted Hurst, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick193
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in the 193rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick229
Rnd7
Roderick Kearney
By-the-book stuff, Roderick Kearney at slot 229 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
