FutureA
More right than wrong for the Buccaneers, and a B- to prove it. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Buccaneers took Mikail Kamara at pick No. 116, roughly 39 spots before his name belonged.
McAlister at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at slot 46 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick77
Rnd3
Darrell Jackson Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Darrell Jackson Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick116
Rnd4
Mikail Kamara
They reached into another round for Mikail Kamara, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick155
Rnd5
Nadame Tucker
Nadame Tucker at No. 155 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick195
Rnd6
Ephesians Prysock
They did well to land Ephesians Prysock in pick No. 195, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick229
Rnd7
Eric McAlister
Eric McAlister in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
