FutureB-
The Buccaneers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Buccaneers did exactly that with Vincent Anthony Jr. in Round 4, Pick 20. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
That McNeil-Warren pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In pick 30 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick52
Rnd2
CJ Allen
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 20, with CJ Allen worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick84
Rnd3
Will Lee III
Will Lee III at No. 84 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick120
Rnd4
Vincent Anthony Jr.
Vincent Anthony Jr. at the 120th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick131
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
They barely believed it either: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren still on the board at the Round 4 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick160
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
No drama and no debate, Max Iheanachor went about where he belonged in slot 160. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick170
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at Round 5, Pick 30 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick245
Rnd7
Bear Alexander
The board had cheaper options than Bear Alexander at the 245th overall pick, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
