Hill Jr. should have been long gone. The Buccaneers pounced, and earned a B+. The rest of the league will want that one back. Anthony Hill Jr. tumbling to the Buccaneers in the 54th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. It is not that Perkins Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Buccaneers had louder needs to answer first.
Jaycee Horn gives the group a proven body among the projects.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In No. 22 they get a weapon on the perimeter. A real need, handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at Round 2, Pick 22 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick86
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Harold Perkins Jr. at linebacker with interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots open.
Pick161
Rnd5
Xavier Scott
Xavier Scott at slot 161 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick235
Rnd7
Tony Grimes
A straight-up fair deal on Tony Grimes at pick 235, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
