Good, not great, for the Buccaneers: B-. The Buccaneers did not so much draft Kamran James as overpay for him, 104 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Landing Iamaleava that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Christen Miller
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a wrecking ball inside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick51
Rnd2
Malik Muhammad
They went early on Malik Muhammad in pick No. 51, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick84
Rnd3
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts at the 84th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick119
Rnd4
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at pick 119 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick160
Rnd5
Kyle Louis
They paid up for Kyle Louis at the Round 5 slot when waiting would have done the job. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick199
Rnd6
Nico Iamaleava
Nico Iamaleava in slot 199 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick235
Rnd7
Kamran James
A big swing on Kamran James at the 235th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick252
Rnd7
Fernando Carmona
They liked Fernando Carmona enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 7, Pick 37. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
