Draft Grade — Buccaneers

FutureC
The Buccaneers kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The Buccaneers did not so much draft Kaimon Rucker as overpay for him, 88 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They will answer for taking linebacker early while tight end, quarterback and other spots went begging. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick34
Rnd2
Wyatt Milum
They took Wyatt Milum at par in Round 2, Pick 2, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick40
Rnd2
Clay Webb
Clay Webb at the 40th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick65
Rnd3
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins in pick No. 65 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick66
Rnd3
Kenneth Grant
They jumped the gun on Kenneth Grant, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick112
Rnd4
Shavon Revel Jr.
Good price on Shavon Revel Jr. in slot 112, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jaishawn Barham
A surprising call. With tight end, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent the 132nd pick on Jaishawn Barham, a linebacker they were not short of.
Pick133
Rnd4
Logan Brown
They reached a country mile for Logan Brown at pick 133, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick164
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
They paid sticker price for Quincy Riley in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick168
Rnd5
Hunter Wohler
They did well to land Hunter Wohler in pick No. 168, just ahead of his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick170
Rnd5
Armand Membou
They talked themselves into Armand Membou at Round 5, Pick 32, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick205
Rnd6
T.J. Sanders
Value said wait; T.J. Sanders in the 205th pick says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick240
Rnd7
Kaimon Rucker
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kaimon Rucker this early at No. 240. A need, and now a little less of one.
