The Buccaneers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. The phones were a trap the Buccaneers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
Williams has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
Terrion Arnold at slot 26 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick58
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zach Frazier. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89
Rnd3
Audric Estime
They paid sticker price for Audric Estime in the 89th overall pick, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick99
Rnd3
Marshawn Kneeland
Marshawn Kneeland in No. 99 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick197
Rnd6
Taulia Tagovailoa
This one needs a full-page explanation: Taulia Tagovailoa in the 197th pick, miles early. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick202
Rnd6
Isaiah Neyor
A reach for Isaiah Neyor in Round 6, Pick 27; a little patience would have been rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick204
Rnd6
David Ugwoegbu
A real head-scratcher, David Ugwoegbu in pick No. 204 is miles ahead of his ranking. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Pick206
Rnd6
Erick All
No edge and no loss on Erick All in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick220
Rnd6
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at the 220th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick249
Rnd7
Josh Williams
Josh Williams at slot 249 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
