Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall D-
ValueC NeedB- TradesF FutureB
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Buccaneers to a D-.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Buccaneers shredded theirs for Kaimon Rucker. He came off 89 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Put together, it is a D-.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. It is not that Emmanwori is a bad player; it is that the Buccaneers had louder needs to answer first.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing McCord that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick35 Rnd2 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum at the 35th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick43 Rnd2 Abdul Carter
They paid sticker price for Abdul Carter in the 43rd overall pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick50 Rnd2 Clay Webb
A straight-up fair deal on Clay Webb at Round 2, Pick 18, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Sonny Styles
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sonny Styles at No. 67 is the proof. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick69 Rnd3 Jay Higgins
The board had cheaper options than Jay Higgins at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick87 Rnd3 Nick Emmanwori
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman to take Nick Emmanwori, a safety that was not the priority.
Pick100 Rnd3 Armand Membou
Value said wait; Armand Membou in Round 3, Pick 36 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick103 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Smael Mondon Jr. while clear needs at interior defensive lineman sat open.
Pick110 Rnd4 Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick123 Rnd4 Jonah Monheim
They reached into another round for Jonah Monheim, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jaishawn Barham
A want over a need in the 126th pick: Jaishawn Barham adds a linebacker while interior defensive lineman keeps waiting.
Pick127 Rnd4 Quincy Riley
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Quincy Riley. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick132 Rnd4 Logan Brown
They left a pile of value on the table to take Logan Brown this early at No. 132. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick139 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
A conviction pick on Cobee Bryant at pick 139 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick140 Rnd5 Kyle Monangai
They paid a round early for Kyle Monangai in the 140th pick, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick152 Rnd5 Luke Lachey
This one needs a full-page explanation: Luke Lachey in the Round 5 slot, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick156 Rnd5 Elijah Roberts
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Elijah Roberts well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris at slot 160 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick161 Rnd5 Gentry Williams
A real head-scratcher, Gentry Williams in pick 161 is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick167 Rnd5 Jaydn Ott
Jaydn Ott at No. 167 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick200 Rnd6 Phillip Webb
A wild overpay on Phillip Webb in the 200th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jason Henderson
Jason Henderson in Round 6, Pick 27 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick204 Rnd6 Xzavier Henderson
Taking Xzavier Henderson in No. 204 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick206 Rnd6 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas at the 206th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick236 Rnd7 Kyle McCord
Steal is underselling it; Kyle McCord at pick No. 236 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick241 Rnd7 Kaimon Rucker
Kaimon Rucker at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick248 Rnd7 Cody Simon
They went early on Cody Simon in pick 248, and the value did not follow. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
