Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bears and Slaughter: B+.

The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

The Slaughter pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Bears indulged a want in McNeil-Warren while a need in edge rusher, running back and other spots stayed open. The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick47 Rnd2 A.J. Haulcy
They took A.J. Haulcy at par in pick No. 47, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick60 Rnd2 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A surprising call. With edge rusher, running back and other spots still to address, they spent Round 2, Pick 28 on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, a safety they were not short of.
Pick63 Rnd2 Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter slid further than he should have, and No. 63 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
The board fumbled Jake Slaughter all the way to pick 78, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick89 Rnd3 Dontay Corleone
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Dontay Corleone reach slot 89 and blink. They did not. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at the Round 3 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick129 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
A tidy little value on Bryce Lance in the 129th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick168 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
Aamil Wagner in slot 168 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick239 Rnd7 Kaden Wetjen
Kaden Wetjen in Round 7, Pick 23 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick241 Rnd7 Zavion Thomas
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Zavion Thomas in pick 241, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
