The Bengals let Adams fall into their laps, and walked away with a D+. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bengals spent Round 7, Pick 17 on Matthew Jones, a name the board had a full 34 spots lower. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.
They banked enough surplus on Adams to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
