Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall

FutureA-
The phones sank the Broncos this weekend: B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Broncos would have aced it. Xavier Thomas at Round 7, Pick 10 is 48 spots clear of where he belonged.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The Hunt pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The Stover pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board. They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Jared Verse
In the 21st overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick53
Rnd2
Patrick Paul
They did well to land Patrick Paul in pick No. 53, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick76
Rnd3
Cade Stover
They bypassed pressing needs at linebacker, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick114
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
A premium they did not need to pay, Justin Eboigbe a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jordan Travis
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Travis at No. 122, and it noticed. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jalyx Hunt
Jalyx Hunt slipping to the Round 5 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
Pick230
Rnd7
Xavier Thomas
A wild overpay on Xavier Thomas in pick No. 230, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick237
Rnd7
Isaac Guerendo
This one needs a full-page explanation: Isaac Guerendo in Round 7, Pick 17, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick257
Rnd7
Jalen Sundell
Jalen Sundell at the 257th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
