Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Buccaneers a B-. The war room fell hard for Sam Hartman, and it showed at pick No. 220: 39 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick Analysis
Pick26
Rnd1
Jackson Powers-Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick57
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in the 57th overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick89
Rnd3
Jonah Elliss
A straight-up fair deal on Jonah Elliss at slot 89, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick92
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
They jumped the gun on Zak Zinter, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick125
Rnd4
Chau Smith-Wade
By-the-book stuff, Chau Smith-Wade at Round 4, Pick 25 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick220
Rnd6
Sam Hartman
Sam Hartman at No. 220 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick246
Rnd7
Kalen DeLoach
Kalen DeLoach in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
