Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureD-
A masterclass at the trade table lands the Buccaneers a B-.

The Buccaneers torched the value chart for Mason Reiger, taking him 58 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Spending an early pick on linebacker with cornerback and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Sonny Styles
A clean, defensible pick in slot 26 with a little surplus value in Sonny Styles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick41 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Caleb Banks at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick46 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
The board had Dillon Thieneman higher than the 46th overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 70 on Jacob Rodriguez with cornerback and running back unsolved.
Pick77 Rnd3 Derrick Moore
A wild overpay on Derrick Moore in the 77th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick91 Rnd3 Keylan Rutledge
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Keylan Rutledge. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick110 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at pick 110 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick116 Rnd4 Jack Endries
They let Jack Endries come to them and pounced at pick No. 116. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139 Rnd5 Mason Reiger
Mason Reiger at No. 139 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick153 Rnd5 Red Murdock
A big swing on Red Murdock at the 153rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick193 Rnd6 Bobby Jamison-Travis
The board had cheaper options than Bobby Jamison-Travis at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick229 Rnd7 Cole Payton
No edge and no loss on Cole Payton in the 229th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
