Draft Grade — Rams
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Rams did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Rams did exactly that with Gabe Hall in pick 191. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The Rams indulged a want in Abrams-Draine while a need in running back and edge rusher stayed open. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Oladapo at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In slot 19 they get a matchup problem out wide, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Graham Barton
No drama and no debate, Graham Barton went about where he belonged in the 51st pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick83 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Fair-plus on Mike Sainristil, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick100 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Kris Abrams-Draine in pick No. 100 leaves running back and edge rusher for later.
Pick153 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Ben Sinnott worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick154 Rnd5 Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio in Round 5, Pick 18 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick177 Rnd6 Kitan Oladapo
Nice patience on Kitan Oladapo, who had no business lasting to No. 177. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick191 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
Value said wait; Gabe Hall in Round 6, Pick 16 says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
They did well to land Jared Wiley in the 212th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick217 Rnd6 Omar Speights
Omar Speights at pick 217 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick218 Rnd6 Sam Hartman
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Sam Hartman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
