Draft Grade — Packers
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Packers robbed the room for Berger. Final grade: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Jalen Berger had no business being available in pick 246, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Jurkovec pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, tight end and other spots.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In the 25th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Good price on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in slot 41, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick57
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Worthy at pick 57. The roster fit checks out.
Pick88
Rnd3
Junior Colson
Junior Colson is a better player than No. 88 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick91
Rnd3
Maason Smith
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, tight end and other spots to take Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick125
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop at pick No. 125 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick135
Rnd4
Drake Nugent
The board had cheaper options than Drake Nugent at the 135th overall pick, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick203
Rnd6
Michael Wiley
Michael Wiley slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 28 is lovely value for the running back. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick217
Rnd6
Phil Jurkovec
Phil Jurkovec in Round 6, Pick 42 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick219
Rnd6
Jeremy Flax
Jeremy Flax in the 219th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jalen Berger
They robbed the room for Jalen Berger here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
