Draft Grade — Lions
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Lions a B. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Lions never addressed linebacker, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
The Richardson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Good work on the whole, with linebacker the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Bralen Trice
In slot 30 they get a problem off the edge, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick62
Rnd2
Kingsley Suamataia
They did well to land Kingsley Suamataia in pick 62, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick73
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Johnny Wilson. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick93
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
Value with a capital V on Cooper Beebe in pick No. 93, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick167
Rnd5
Austin Booker
A clean, defensible pick in the 167th pick with a little surplus value in Austin Booker. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick208
Rnd6
Justin Walley
Justin Walley in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick251
Rnd7
Demani Richardson
Demani Richardson in No. 251 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
