For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Lions walked out of the weekend still thin at safety, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.

Clark falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cost of the Jefferson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
