Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Jaguars turned the phones into found money: B.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Jaguars spent the 243rd pick on Jason Henderson, a name the board had a full 132 spots lower.

However the rest shakes out, Iamaleava at that price is a win they earned. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick64 Rnd2 Connor Lew
Connor Lew at the 64th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick82 Rnd3 Cade Klubnik
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cade Klubnik at the 82nd overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick87 Rnd3 Whit Weeks
They paid a round early for Whit Weeks in pick 87, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick100 Rnd3 Julian Neal
Julian Neal slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Bryce Lance
They took Bryce Lance at par in No. 122, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick128 Rnd4 Blake Miller
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Miller at Round 4, Pick 28, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick161 Rnd5 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg in No. 161 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick164 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez in pick 164 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick167 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
No drama and no debate, Aaron Graves went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 27. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick195 Rnd6 Patrick Payton
A wild overpay on Patrick Payton in pick No. 195, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick201 Rnd6 Nico Iamaleava
They robbed the room for Nico Iamaleava here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick218 Rnd7 Jahiem White
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jahiem White. It fills a real need, too.
Pick221 Rnd7 Amare Campbell
Amare Campbell in the 221st overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick222 Rnd7 Sawyer Robertson
They barely believed it either: Sawyer Robertson still on the board at slot 222. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jerry Wilson
Jerry Wilson in slot 229 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick233 Rnd7 Ricardo Hallman
Ricardo Hallman in pick No. 233 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick239 Rnd7 Smith Snowden
Smith Snowden at the 239th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick240 Rnd7 Barion Brown
By-the-book stuff, Barion Brown at the 240th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick243 Rnd7 Jason Henderson
Jason Henderson at No. 243 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick246 Rnd7 Xavian Sorey Jr.
Xavian Sorey Jr. in Round 7, Pick 31 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick247 Rnd7 Jack Velling
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jack Velling in pick 247, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick250 Rnd7 Tristan Leigh
Tristan Leigh at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255 Rnd7 Jamal Haynes
Jamal Haynes in No. 255 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
