Phillips should have been long gone. The Eagles pounced, and earned a B.

The board owed the Eagles one, and it paid up: Jordan Phillips, the No. 109 name on the board, sitting there at Round 4, Pick 28 like a gift left on the doorstep. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
