The tape said wait; the Chargers did not. Ethan Downs went at No. 177, a good 93 picks before the board was ready. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Getting Reed where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
