Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesC+ FutureA
The Browns robbed the room for Washington. Final grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. A'Mauri Washington, the No. 61 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 93. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They are betting Chaplin proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In the Round 1 slot they get a two-high chess piece at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick29 Rnd1 Kenyon Sadiq
In pick 29 they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Lomu
Caleb Lomu at the 39th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70 Rnd3 Antonio Williams
Antonio Williams at No. 70 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick84 Rnd3 Xavier Chaplin
Xavier Chaplin at slot 84 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick93 Rnd3 A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington in pick No. 93 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick97 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Steal is underselling it; Malik Muhammad at the 97th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick107 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 7 is lovely value for the running back. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139 Rnd5 Jalon Kilgore
They robbed the room for Jalon Kilgore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick144 Rnd5 Parker Brailsford
Value with a capital V on Parker Brailsford in Round 5, Pick 6, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick147 Rnd5 Chase Roberts
The board had cheaper options than Chase Roberts at pick No. 147, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick206 Rnd6 Eric McAlister
Good price on Eric McAlister in the Round 6 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick248 Rnd7 Miller Moss
A quarterback of that caliber at the 248th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
