Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA FutureB-
Barton should have been long gone. The Browns pounced, and earned a B+.

The Browns did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Graham Barton fell into slot 66.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick66 Rnd3 Graham Barton
Steal is underselling it; Graham Barton at the 66th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick88 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk in slot 88 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick89 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
They paid sticker price for TreVeyon Henderson in the 89th pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138 Rnd5 Max Melton
Max Melton at No. 138 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick164 Rnd5 Keith Randolph Jr.
Good price on Keith Randolph Jr. in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick204 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Value with a capital V on Michael Barrett in Round 6, Pick 29, a genuine coup. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick210 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark at pick No. 210 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick231 Rnd7 Phil Jurkovec
A clean, defensible pick in pick 231 with a little surplus value in Phil Jurkovec. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
