Draft Grade — Browns
Overall

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Browns: B-. Everything else got attention, and edge rusher got none. That is a strange way for the Browns to leave a draft. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Lew value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The Lomu pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In the 3rd overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Caleb Lomu
They paid a round early for Caleb Lomu in Round 1, Pick 27, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick38
Rnd2
Colton Hood
They did well to land Colton Hood in slot 38, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick69
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Connor Lew at the 69th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick104
Rnd4
Adon Shuler
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Adon Shuler in the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick141
Rnd5
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at No. 141 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick142
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at pick No. 142 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick148
Rnd5
Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts in pick 148 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick210
Rnd6
Jalon Daniels
Good price on Jalon Daniels in the 210th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick248
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in the 248th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
