kauffyk22 DRAFTING FOR THEBrowns
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Browns. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Harold Perkins Jr. at No. 71 is 34 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
Daniels falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Francis Mauigoa
In slot 4 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick27
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In the 27th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick40
Rnd2
Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick71
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Harold Perkins Jr.. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick106
Rnd4
Omar Cooper Jr.
Nice patience on Omar Cooper Jr., who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 6. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick141
Rnd5
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
A reach for Ar'maj Reed-Adams in the 141st overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick145
Rnd5
Terrance Carter Jr.
No drama and no debate, Terrance Carter Jr. went about where he belonged in pick 145. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick150
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
A reach on Jacob Rodriguez in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick204
Rnd6
Cam Calhoun
Cam Calhoun at the 204th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
A quarterback of that caliber at pick No. 244 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
