Grand theft in No. 177: the Browns steal Stone and grade out a A-. When a board-topper like Preston Stone slides to pick 177, you do not overthink it, and the Browns did not. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In the 18th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick51
Rnd2
Emery Jones
They will replay Emery Jones at Round 2, Pick 19 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jamon Dumas-Johnson at the Round 3 slot. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick113
Rnd4
Oscar Delp
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Oscar Delp in pick 113, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick177
Rnd6
Preston Stone
You do not let a quarterback like Preston Stone reach slot 177 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
