The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Melton: D+.

The phones were a trap the Browns kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.

The Melton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

The veteran additions, Justin Fields chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
