Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA+
The Browns won the night they stopped Mondon Jr. from sliding. Grade: A.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. Smael Mondon Jr., the No. 110 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 6, Pick 41. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A.

The cost of the Smith reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In the end it comes back to Landon Jackson, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Landon Jackson
In pick No. 25 they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon at No. 33 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick44 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker in the 67th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick94 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
They went early on Ajani Cornelius in slot 94, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick103 Rnd4 TreVeyon Henderson
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at pick 103 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick165 Rnd5 Jaylin Smith
Jaylin Smith at the 165th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick181 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at Round 6, Pick 6 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick194 Rnd6 Lathan Ransom
Taking Lathan Ransom in the 194th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick202 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jay Higgins in No. 202, plain and simple. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick216 Rnd6 Smael Mondon Jr.
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at Round 6, Pick 41. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick217 Rnd7 Logan Parr
They reached into another round for Logan Parr, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
