Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Vikings let Stutsman fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Vikings watched Danny Stutsman slide 76 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The McLaughlin pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Nick Emmanwori at pick 33 is the proof. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick73 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in the 73rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick94 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
You do not let a cornerback like Zy Alexander reach pick No. 94 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick97 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson is a better player than No. 97 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
A reach on Jordan Phillips in slot 103; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick140 Rnd5 Joshua Farmer
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at the 140th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick161 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick165 Rnd5 Danny Stutsman
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at Round 5, Pick 26 is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick182 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at slot 182 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick194 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
Value with a capital V on Quincy Riley in No. 194, a genuine coup. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick214 Rnd6 Seth McLaughlin
They talked themselves into Seth McLaughlin at pick 214, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
