Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
The Browns worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-.

The Jalen Milroe selection is the head-turner. The Browns reached 49 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Mike Green and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Mike Green
In No. 14 they get juice off the edge, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
A tidy little value on Omarion Hampton in the 33rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick45 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jalen Milroe in Round 2, Pick 13, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
No edge and no loss on Maxwell Hairston in pick No. 67; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80 Rnd3 Barrett Carter
They took Barrett Carter at par in pick 80, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick94 Rnd3 Tai Felton
No drama and no debate, Tai Felton went about where he belonged in slot 94. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Jordan Phillips at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
