Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureD
The Browns found their guy under center in Mendoza: B.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Browns' quarterback, full stop.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That Styles pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

They will answer for taking linebacker early while cornerback, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
Kadyn Proctor in Round 1, Pick 2 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick32 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In No. 32 they get a franchise quarterback at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
A tidy bit of business in pick 38, where Caleb Banks graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick46 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter is a better player than the 46th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick64 Rnd2 Arvell Reese
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Arvell Reese for less than the market said. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick69 Rnd3 Sonny Styles
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Sonny Styles while clear needs at cornerback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick104 Rnd4 Cayden Green
Nice patience on Cayden Green, who had no business lasting to pick No. 104. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick148 Rnd5 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg at the 148th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jaden Greathouse
The board had Jaden Greathouse higher than pick No. 173, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick241 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nolan Rucci in the 241st overall pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick243 Rnd7 Peyton Bowen
Peyton Bowen at No. 243 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick254 Rnd7 Cayden Lee
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cayden Lee at the Round 7 slot is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
