Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D
ValueA- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Browns won the night they stopped Leonard from sliding. Grade: D.

You could see the war room lean forward. Riley Leonard at No. 257 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They are betting McLaughlin proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick No. 6 they get a double-digit-sack hope. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick20 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the 20th overall pick they get a three-down runner, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick33 Rnd2 Luther Burden III
Luther Burden III in No. 33 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick37 Rnd2 Shemar Stewart
Shemar Stewart at slot 37 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick67 Rnd3 Marcus Mbow
Nice patience on Marcus Mbow, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 3. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick94 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Donovan Jackson at the 94th pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick103 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
They let Denzel Burke come to them and pounced at pick 103. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107 Rnd4 Will Howard
By-the-book stuff, Will Howard at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick165 Rnd5 Chris Paul Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Chris Paul Jr. at pick No. 165 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick181 Rnd6 Tez Johnson
They robbed the room for Tez Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick193 Rnd6 Connor Colby
A slide stopped in Round 6, Pick 15, with Connor Colby worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick194 Rnd6 Robert Spears-Jennings
Robert Spears-Jennings at the 194th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick202 Rnd6 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten in No. 202 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick216 Rnd6 Seth McLaughlin
They left a pile of value on the table to take Seth McLaughlin this early at pick 216. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick217 Rnd6 Cam Horsley
They paid sticker price for Cam Horsley in the 217th pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick257 Rnd7 Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard at slot 257 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
