Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureA
The Browns won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-.

The Browns bet big and early on Bear Alexander, 51 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

On value alone, Slaughter makes the weekend a net positive. The Browns paired the rookies with proven help, Steve Avila leading the way.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Carnell Tate and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In the 11th pick they get a matchup problem out wide, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick22 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
In slot 22 they get a long-term starter on the line, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick51 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Value with a capital V on Jake Slaughter in Round 2, Pick 19, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick72 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Rod Moore at pick No. 72 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick84 Rnd3 Austin Siereveld
The board had cheaper options than Austin Siereveld at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Pick107 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Harold Perkins Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick144 Rnd5 Logan Jones
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Logan Jones. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick146 Rnd5 Jyaire Hill
Jyaire Hill in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick148 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Drew Allar at slot 148 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick207 Rnd6 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander at No. 207 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick242 Rnd7 Brandon Inniss
A reach for Brandon Inniss in Round 7, Pick 27; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
