Draft Grade — Browns

FutureA+
The Browns fleeced the room on the phones and earned a A-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Browns did exactly that with Emery Jones Jr. in pick 94. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher went begging.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Emeka Egbuka and all.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In the 14th pick they get a true top target, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at slot 33 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick45
Rnd2
Carson Schwesinger
A surprising call. With edge rusher still to address, they spent Round 2, Pick 13 on Carson Schwesinger, a linebacker they were not short of.
Pick67
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
A straight-up fair deal on Quinshon Judkins at No. 67, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick80
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in pick 80 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94
Rnd3
Emery Jones Jr.
They reached into another round for Emery Jones Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
A quiet steal in No. 104: Jalen Milroe for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick179
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at slot 179 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick192
Rnd6
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the 192nd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
They went early on Jason Marshall Jr. in Round 6, Pick 24, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick216
Rnd6
Desmond Watson
A real head-scratcher, Desmond Watson in pick 216 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jackson Hawes
They took Jackson Hawes at par in pick No. 255, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
