Draft Grade — Jets

ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Jets won the night they stopped Norman-Lott from sliding. Grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Jets were there to profit. Omarr Norman-Lott, the No. 73 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 186.

If Miller pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In the 7th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick42 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Fair-plus on Tyler Booker, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It fills a real need, too.
Pick73 Rnd3 Tai Felton
A real head-scratcher, Tai Felton in pick 73 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick110 Rnd4 Cam Miller
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cam Miller this early at slot 110. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick145 Rnd5 Dylan Fairchild
They will replay Dylan Fairchild at the 145th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick162 Rnd5 Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer in Round 5, Pick 24 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick186 Rnd6 Omarr Norman-Lott
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at No. 186 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick207 Rnd6 LeQuint Allen
The board fumbled LeQuint Allen all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
