Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedA- TradesF FutureC
A franchise passer in Ward headlines a D- weekend for the Browns.

The Browns lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.

Cam Ward is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Parrish has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Dumas-Johnson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Cam Ward
No drama and no debate, Cam Ward went about where he belonged in the 2nd overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick14 Rnd1 Mike Green
In pick 14 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at Round 2, Pick 1 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick58 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts slid further than he should have, and pick No. 58 is lovely value for the safety. The roster fit checks out.
Pick62 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in No. 62 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Pick94 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
They let Mason Taylor come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick103 Rnd4 Barrett Carter
Circle this one: Barrett Carter at the 103rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick120 Rnd4 Devin Neal
Devin Neal at slot 120 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick186 Rnd6 Ollie Gordon II
Ollie Gordon II slipping to slot 186 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jacob Parrish
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jacob Parrish well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Jamon Dumas-Johnson at pick No. 257 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
