Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C
ValueB+ NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Slaughter should have been long gone. The Browns pounced, and earned a C.

The board owed the Browns one, and it paid up: Jake Slaughter, the No. 42 name on the board, sitting there at pick 70 like a gift left on the doorstep. A mixed bag that lands at C.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

They will need Inniss to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In No. 27 they get a green-dot type in the middle, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick39 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Caleb Banks at pick No. 39 is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Steal is underselling it; Jake Slaughter at the Round 3 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick79 Rnd3 Keith Abney II
They let Keith Abney II come to them and pounced at slot 79. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick95 Rnd3 Eric Singleton Jr.
Eric Singleton Jr. in Round 3, Pick 31 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick107 Rnd4 Adon Shuler
A slide stopped in the 107th overall pick, with Adon Shuler worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick140 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Kage Casey at pick 140 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick145 Rnd5 Jacob Rodriguez
They paid up for Jacob Rodriguez at the 145th pick when waiting would have done the job. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick148 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
No drama and no debate, DeMonte Capehart went about where he belonged in pick 148. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210 Rnd6 Brandon Inniss
They talked themselves into Brandon Inniss at pick No. 210, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick248 Rnd7 Joenel Aguero
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Joenel Aguero. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
